Once upon a time in Nazi occupied France

I watched Inglourious Basterds twice tonight; I nominate it best movie of 2009 hands-down (there was some Ohio State football game on that I really wasn't interested in, so watching Inglourious Basterds twice seemed to make sense). I made a list of movies I loved from last year, but I don't have it around at the moment or else I'd just post a list of my favorite movies of last year now. I loved Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans a ton too, which I just saw a couple days ago, because I don't give a shit how many crappy movies about dudes punching women in bear suits Nicolas Cage makes, I love him. Like, he's clearly straight-up nuts and will probably not be making good movies in the near future, seeing as how he has to buy back castles and pay off the IRS, but when he makes good movies, he makes good fucking movies. He was in Raising Arizona. The end.

I give Avatar an A++ for artistic creativity; aside from that I was largely undecided on how I felt about it. I'm going to be the weird person who saw it in 3-D IMAX and thinks seeing it in 2-D would possibly make me appreciate it more. I totally wanted to steal the 3-D glasses and wear them to normal movies, like, "Yeah, I'm watching It's Complicated in 3-D." I saw other movies recently too, but I can definitely put them in some sort of year-end list order.

Oh, whatever, since youtube videos tend to annoy me, here's that Best Scenes from Wicker Man thing everyone has seen a million times before. "Take your stupid mask," is my new favorite quote from it. Seriously, Nicolas Cage is in good movies! This just isn't one of them. Valley Girl, that's a good one. I could go on (Adaptation., The Rock, Bringing Out the Dead, Moonstruck). Anyway, I very much recommend Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans because it's weird and great and generally involves Nicolas Cage acting like a crazy person, but in a good way.
